Standard shutters are only available in Western Red Cedar. 

Heavy Duty and DesignLine shutters are available in Western Red Cedar, Spanish Cedar, Sapele Mahogany, and Cypress, however Western Red Cedar is the preferred choice.

Paint grade is for shutters that will be painted, either by us or by the customer. Stain grade is for shutters that will be stained prior to installation.

Finishing

• Unfinished: Your shutters arrive as raw wood, ready for your stain or paint. 

• Factory Primed: Your shutters are primed in our factory with an oil-based primer tinted gray. This option requires light sanding before you apply your final color and is ideal for shutters where the final color is a darker shade. 

• Factory Primed White: Your shutters are primed in our factory with an oil-based white primer. 

• Factory Primed White and Sanded: Your shutters are primed in our factory with an oil-based white primer and sanded. They arrive to you ready for the final color application. This option is ideal for shutters where the final color is a darker shade. 

• Factory Primed and Sanded: Your shutters are primed in our factory with an oil-based primer tinted gray and sanded. They arrive to you ready for the final color application. This option is ideal for shutters where the final color is a darker shade. 

• Factory Finished – Stock Color: Your shutters are primed and painted in our factory with oil-based primer and the stock color of your choosing. Our finishing guide for stock color options.

• Factory Finished – Custom Color: Your shutters are primed and painted in our factory with oil-based primer and the custom color of your choosing. Please provide the paint manufacturer’s name, color number, color name (color swatch) and sheen. Our finishing guide for more information.

Square top shutters are the most common. However, an arch top shutter may be required when a window is curved at the top. We recommend contacting our shutter specialists to ensure you are measuring for the arch properly.

Substile Options
Top Rail Width

The top rail is located at the top of the shutter frame. 3 ¾”is the standard width on Heavy Duty True Louver, Heavy Dudy Raised Panel, Heavy Duty Movable Louver. Customizations are available for an additional charge.

Bottom Rail Width

The bottom rail is located at the bottom of the shutter frame. 3 ¾ inch is the standard width. Customizations are available for an additional charge.

Side Stile Width

The side stiles are located on the left and right of the shutter frame. 2 inch is the standard width. Customizations are available for an additional charge.

Vertical Substile Width

The width measurement of the center stile.

Door Frame Thickness

Decorative trim molding is surface-mounted to the inside of the stiles.
